Lego Day is a public event. Cost is $5 per participating person (any child and/or adult entering any contest or participating in any activity). There is no charge for BCHE member families (immediate family living in your household)--must show current membership card for free entry.
Edible Lego - All ages welcome. Competition categories will depend on number and ages of participants. Will include a family category if more than one family-entry (two or more members of the same family) is pre-registered. Please pre-register. All Edible Lego entries must be received by 11:00am on August 4th to be included in judging.
Lego Show-Off - All ages welcome. Competition categories will depend on number and ages of participants. Will include a family category if more than one family-entry (two or more members of the same family) is pre-registered. Lego Show-Off entries are created with your own Legos, at home. Only Lego bricks. All entries must be complete at time of delivery--only time for basic set up will be allowed, not creation time. All Lego Show-Off entries must be received by 11:00am on August 4th to be included judging.
Bionicle Show-Off - All ages welcome. Competition categories will depend on number and ages of participants. Entries should be original creations, not just completion of a pre-set kit. All Bionicle Show-Off entries are created with your own Legos, at home. Only Lego bricks. All entries must be complete at time of delivery--only time for basic set up will be allowed, not creation time. All Bionicle Show-Off entries must be received by 11:00am on August 4th to be included in judging.
Build-it Challenge - Join the challenge to be spontaneously awesome! Bring your own 50 (only) bricks in a labeled container/bag, and use them to build the best creations you can within the allotted time. Tons of fun! Participants must bring their own Lego (only) bricks (maximum of 50 bricks) in a labelled container/sealed bag. BCHE-owned Legos may not be used for this activity. Each participant is responsible for keeping track of their own Lego bricks.
Build-it Races - Relay building! We will do both team and individual building races, using provided kits and bricks. Family competition will be included if there is enough interest. These races are always a favorite! Only BCHE-supplied Lego bricks are used for this event.
Lego Car Races - Build your Lego car at home and come race it on our track! We'll compete in both speed and distance. Cars may not be built on-site--all entries must be brought from home and no BCHE-owned Legos may be used for this activity. No motorization allowed, and only verified Lego bricks/parts allowed. Cars may be no wider than FOUR INCHES--email vp@bched.com for details.
Lego Craft - Bring your own T-shirt (or bag, etc) and use our stencils, stamps, and paint to create an event T-shirt of your own design. There will be a limited number of blank shirts available for purchase ($3/each) at the event if you do not bring your own.
Lego Stop-Motion Movie - Are you a budding Stop-Motion movie maker? We wanna see your skills! These will be shown during lunch and winners chosen immediately following. Please bring submissions in mp4 format on a thumb drive. Submissions should be no more than 5 minutes in length. Email vp@bched.com for questions about submission specs.
9:45am - Contest Entry Drop-Off (Edible Lego, Lego Display, Bionicle Display, Lego Stop-Motion Movie)
10:00am - Doors open and event begins. Contests, races, crafts will continue throughout the day. Edible Lego, Lego Show-Off, Bionicle Show-Off, and Lego Stop-Motion Movie judging will take place during lunch, and will be announce at the conclusion of the day's activities.
11:00am - Deadline for Edible Lego, Lego Show-Off, Bionicle Show-Off, and Lego Stop-Motion movie submissions.
12:00pm - LUNCH available for purchase from BCHE Student Council. Concession snacks, coffee, and drinks will also be served throughout the day. Please consider supporting Student Council--they put a lot of effort and resources into this event!
Lego Stop-Motion movie submissions will be shown during lunch.
Please plan to stay for winner announcements and prizes.
All attendees, both parents and students, should be sure to read all directions and rules regarding activities. Parents are expected to help children respect the facility, property and submissions of others, BCHE property and event guidelines, and each other.
