Homeschool Open House
August 17, 2019
9:30am - 3:00pm
Entry: $6 online/$10 at the door
Online registration ends August 14th.
Are you considering homeschooling and need some questions answered? Are you a veteran about to move into a new season of home education (middle school...high school...multiples) and you'd like to talk with someone who's already made the transition? This year's Homeschool Open House is for those who have been homeschooling, those about to start, and for those just considering the possible alternatives to public education.
Join us for basic info opportunities, specific-topic speaker sessions, and a resource fair. Come see what it's all about and what classes, co-ops, alternative learning opportunities, sports, arts, and activities will be available to your family in 2019/2020!
Entry is $6/person online (through August 14) and $10/person at the door. Children are welcome, but there are no kid-specific activities offered, and children must remain with their parent(s) at all times. Age 3 and below attend free with parent(s), and must be lap-sit.
Come browse the Resource Fair and see what fun things your family might find to do this coming year. Also, registration for BCHE classes, Co-Op, archery, arts, etc will open at this event, and members who attend Open House get first dibs--come ask your questions and get signed up! Registration will open to all members online on the Monday following the event.

~What my post-homeschooling self wishes she could tell my pre-homeschooling self...
Hear from Poppy Walker, a local momma with two homeschool grads, as she offers her lessons learned and perspectives gained. Trying to decide if homeschooling is for you? Trying to decide if you want to homeschool through high school? This is for you.
~Homeschool Crash Course: What you need to know to get YOUR homeschool off to a great start!
Join Tammy Anderson, long-time BCHE board member and homeschool mom of two, to hear about the current laws regarding homeschooling in the state of Texas and the basics of getting started educating your child(ren) at home in a way that will leave you with a sense of joy and confidence that "YOU can do this!"
Matt Lowe, from Tiny School in Abilene, will discuss why and how you can use group class options to help build a stellar education experience for your child.
~From a Homeschool Grad
Abigail Payne, Abilene Philharmonic Education Coordinator and homeschool grad, offers parents perspective as they consider whether or not to homeschool, or for how long. She will share her thoughts on how she was blessed by being a home educated student.
~Homeschooling in the Tough Seasons of Life
Cherith Newman, homeschool mom of four, will share her family's successes and failures as they educate through life's unexpected roadblocks--and how they have been blessed by ALL of it. Homeschooling can be TOUGH! Throw in some challenging seasons of life, and it gets TOUGHER! Cherith's 8-year homeschooling journey has taken her to Kenya and back. Take away encouragement and ideas on achieving your education goals (or throwing them out the window and starting from scratch!) even when life doesn't make it easy.
Please email questions to email@example.com. Those interested in registering as a VENDOR, please see the separate vendor registration. Only registered and approved vendors have the right to distribute materials or information regarding any product, service, or organization.
Online registration ends August 14th. Registration cancellations cannot be refunded after this date.
