interested in joining the Big Country Home Educators Community? Are you privately homeschooling in Abilene and looking for a Christian community? BCHE is growing and thriving! For over thirty years, BCHE has served homeschoolers in Abilene and surrounding areas, and we are passionately committed to continuing that service! |
Activities & Events |
BCHE Membership is for families who are currently home educating in the counties and towns around the Abilene area. We use the home schooling definition provided in the Texas Education Code. Click above for more details, and for a list of other F.A.Q. | Families have the option to choose a Standard Membership or a Non-Volunteer Membership. Standard Membership comes with a service requirement. Click here to visit our JOIN page for more information. | While most classes and activities require membership, we offer a few activities & events each year that are open to the public and do not require BCHE membership. Once they are scheduled, we'll add them to the public calendar and advertise them. | BCHE membership gets you access to LOTS of classes, events, and activities! Click above for info we make available to the public about member programs & events--we take safety and privacy very seriously, so many details are member-restricted. |
Why can't I see ALL the details about EVERYTHING before I join? You are welcome to contact us about the cost of a specific program, to see if you are interested, but please understand that program fees are not final until registration opens for members, and that costs are frequently determined by the number of members who choose to participate in a specific program. Sometimes we get questions about one specific class that is being offered as part of one specific program (under BCHE Academy program, for example)--if a family joins based on info about that one class, they just need to understand that details about that class may change. We take safety and privacy very seriously, so we never give out info that would allow public knowledge of where and at what time our families might be gathered. Due to the world we live in and the needs of those who may be in sensitive fostering or custody situations, those details are kept private. Attendance at all member events and activities requires a current BCHE photo ID. Pick up from drop-off classes and activities requires a current BCHE photo ID. If you have specific questions about a particular program, be sure to reach out to BCHE and ask them! You're also welcome to come see us at the office to chat, if you like! Visit our Contact Us/Visit Us page FMI. | How does it work? BCHE is a homeschool community that offers LOTS of programs, events, and activities. Families shouldn't join for one specific program--it's not set up to work well that way. Home school families should join the community for fellowship and fun within a Christian community, and for access to ALL the programs offered.
