It's that time of year! Are you ready for the 2018 BCHE Science & History Fair?
BCHE Science & History Fair is open to area homeschool families who meet the following criteria: student must receive at least 51% of his/her studies at home, under the direct supervision of the parent.
Registration by deadline is required. Registration deadline is February 21st. As always, parents may only register their own children, or children for whom they are the legal guardian.
Students will prepare a project according to specifications in their chosen category and age division:
- Science (Model or Method) Project
- History Project
- History Diorama
All judging criteria are provided after registration, so you can design your entire project to impress the judges. Details about each project type are included. Students are NOT allowed to use a purchased "kit" and enter it as their project.
Projects may be as simple or as complicated as you like!
ALL projects require a free-standing three-dimensional display (on a display board, etc).
Scientific Model Projects are those that model and explain a scientific concept.
Scientific Method Projects are those that require experimentation according to the scientific method.
History Projects are those that seek to educate viewers about the cultural and historical significance of a specific event, place, or people.
History Diorama Projects are those that feature a specific event or date in history through a diorama (a three-dimensional miniature model).
Tentative Schedule
10:00am - Project Set-up; This must be done by students at their assigned tables.
10:30am - Students and families vacate the premises for preliminary judging.
12:00pm - Students should be in place for judge interviews. (This is not as scary as it sounds, I promise! Our judges are very kind and ask general questions meant to assess students' basic understanding of their project.) This is an excellent opportunity for your kiddos!
1:00pm - THIS TIME IS APPROXIMATE. Awards and reception.
Please understand that times are approximate and there may be slight adjustments based on the number of participants. If changes are necessary, a new schedule will be released before the event.
